This electrical pole is in akinbo/kumuyi street in Ajegunle, and it has been going down for a while now. Last I heard residents are contributing to the removal or repair of it, but seeing it today and hearing the same update on contribution only pained my heart the more. We all hope and pray for change in Nigeria, but let us note that these communities that we usually refer to as slum have a great part to play in the development of the nation, and change should also be experienced there.
I understand these people’s need to want to get it done, but I also understand that if prolonged, it will take just a rough wind to bring it down. When I say down I mean on a building that contain families… This will also drag along wires that are connected to the pole, and not knowing whose child(ren) might be close to it whenever it happens because this damage the way I see it will be huge.
So I am writing this to create awareness on what is going on in my neighborhood and asking that the issue be looked into, as I believe we all want to save lives… So here’s the opportunity to do that. This is an online community and we have people in offices that can get this done faster than the people there are presently doing. So I plead on behalf of so many lives that something be communally done.
Please comment on this and what we can do about it.
