45-year-old Black-ish star actress, Tracee Ellis Ross is the cover girl for Glamour February issue. The charming actress revealed a lot about herself that will make you love her more. Her ideology towards life and how we should live it as women, understanding that no matter the expectation society places on you, your life is yours. This knowledge was an eye opener to Tracee who revealed that immediately she had the epiphany while she was about to write her journal, she could do nothing but cry, and I totally get it because sometimes you just realize that you’ve been bothering yourself about things you shouldn’t have because the people you’re concerned about don’t rule your life until you give them that power to, and when it dawns on you that you have been indirectly giving them a power over yourself which they don’t deserve, trust me you’ll feel really angry with yourself.
“I’m a good friend, a solid daughter, a hard worker, my credit is good, I take out the garbage before it gets smelly, I recycle, and I won a Golden Globe!”— Some people who mean well remind her that it’s “never too late” for her life to have, quote, meaning: “As if all that I have done and who I am doesn’t matter.”
despite all these victories, it’s a shame that she is still being judged for not being married with kids. In this state of confusion, she took to her journal to process her thoughts in words but then she got this epiphany:
“I wrote down, ‘My life is mine….’ Those words stopped me in my tracks and honestly brought so many tears to my eyes.”
and that was when she decided to take ownership of her life
“I’m going to pay attention to the reality of my life and the audacity of my dreams instead of the expectation I was raised with,”.
That was exactly what this funny actress did. She paid attention to herself and her dreams. Understand who she is at full capacity and does not allow the expectations of society define her. She knows her strength and basks in the beauty of that knowledge. When she talked about friendship and self-love, you can’t help but hear the words of a confident woman who understand that not being firm will make you dance to the rhythm of the world.
